Bonnet
1820s
This bonnet with its original silk ribbons was worn by the Quaker abolitionist, Elizabeth Margaret Chandler, who silk purse is featured the 1820s gallery. A straw binding holds the ribbon in place around the base of the crown; the brim ‘s shape is held in place with a wire around its edge.
